The State Department sponsored report on the Benghazi terrorist attack on Monday was delivered to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The contents of that report will not be shared until Wednesday, when members of the investigating body will brief lawmakers on their findings.
Secretary Clinton who was scheduled to testify as to the contents of the report, will not appear before Congressional committee members due to a concussion sustained as a result of an apparent fainting episode.
Senior State Department officials William Burns and Thomas Nides are expected to take Clinton's place at the hearings on Thursday.
Adm. Mike Mullen, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Thomas Pickering, a former U.S. diplomat led the investigation into the attack that resulted in the murder of four U.S. citizens, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland last week hinted that Clinton might not be prepared to testify. That compounded by U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice's ending of her bid to replace Clinton ushered in a fresh wave of speculation regarding the possible findings of the investigative body's report. |
