| DNI Head Clapper Now In the Crosshairs |

The saga over the CIA's Benghazi talking points goes on. Fox News' Catherine Herridge reporting that the nation's top intelligence official may face investigation regarding testimony he gave to lawmakers regarding the Benghazi Terrorist attack.
Herridge on Tuesday is reporting Rep. Mike Rogers, Republican Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is demanding an immediate explanation as to why Rogers, an Obama appointee, gave inconsistent statements to Congress and the public regarding who was behind the changes to the CIA's talking points.
Those talking points that were given to U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice who subsequently told Americans that the terrorist attack that killed four U.S. citizens was born out of protests against an anti-Muslim YouTube video.
Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte says "we have more questions than answers at this point, we need to understand why these talking points did not represent the truth of what we knew at the time."
On Thursday, less than a week ago, Fox News is reporting that Clapper in a classified session was "unequivocal" that the changes were made "outside the intelligence community and he did not know who was responsible."
However, Monday night, a Clapper spokesman confirmed that the intelligence community was solely responsible for substantive changed to the talking points.
Ambassador John Bolton, a former member of the Bush administration says Clapper must now explain why the administration blamed a "spontaneous" attack on an anti-Muslim Internet video.
" I think clapper as to say-and has to say publicly whether he advocated the YouTube video theory... whether he pressed it on the White House and other in the intel community. If so...did he do that at the direction of the White House," Bolton said. |
